Nigerian model trued designer Isi Atagamen's fashion label unveils "Isimeme"
Monday, July 14, 2014
Owned by model turned designer Isi Atagamen, IAFL’s collection which translates as ‘Bright Future’ is birthed out of the joy of acceptance, and the new age at logger heads with tradition.
According to the brand:
“This season’s collection is designed with the intention of showing the limitlessness of the IAFL woman. She’s comfortable with tradition whilst staying chic. With inspiration from the 30s/40s, fabric manipulations, textures, 3D appliques and a refined combination of the brand’s signature, we have the birth of “ISIMEME” (bright future)“
The collection is filled with various hand-made African prints and fabrics including batik & aso-oke infused fabric with organza and lace. Its dresses, jumpsuits, capes, jackets and more pieces have a traditional appeal with new age cuts and inserts that give a structured twist to each piece.

Clan's new collection "Clan Classics" shot with an old hollywood theme modeled by Ebonylife' Zainab Balogun
Owned by sisters Teni, Tiwa & Aba Sagoe – daughters of Nigerian fashion designer & icon Deola Sagoe, the label is giving us clean and sexy silhouettes with asymmetrical cuts, plunging necklines, peplum details, thigh-high slits, cut-outs, pant suits and accessories that all tie into its theme of old Hollywood glamour. Plus who can ignore how much Zainab is killing it with her sleek and sultry poses.
We have been expecting something awesome from the brand for a whole now as they’ve been teasing with behind-the-scenes images of Zainab, the collection and lookbook on their Instagram page.
Earlier on today, they finally unveiled the collection writing;
“CLAN Classics, exhibiting our timeless pieces. These pieces will be available all year round in chosen variations and upon personal requests. It was so much fun working with @lakinogunbanwo @zainabbalogun and @dfalana”.

“Átómu” is an Ishan word which translates as ‘growth/beginning’, the designer has described the collection as a representation of her “exponential growth” during the show. She explains on -
“I thought of the life of a woman and how she evolves with each stage, from infant to toddler to teenager to adulthood, and in every stage she becomes better as she appreciates her femininity and that is what I tried to show with every piece in the look book. Orange Culture Releases Resort 2015 Collection- “Dovetail”
The androgynous collection according to the designer is inspired by, “the imperfection of staircases in Lagos Nigeria doesn’t necessarily take away from its beauty as the imperfect lines, joints and dimensions make each step an exciting adventure, a step into an airy discovery. These staircases have a rustic appearance that reinterprets the natural structure of wood and inspired the prints developed for the collection.”
In February the brand made it to the semi finals at the LVMH Young Designers – a top designer initiative that supports and grows brands internationally.
